Woven-wire deer exclosure fences commonly utilize 6" x 6" gradiated galvanized mesh wire of the type shown here. Two 4-foot sections of fence are stacked one upon the other to create the necessary height. One foot of the fence is curled to the outside of the fence as an "apron". This apron serves to cover dips or other irregularities in the ground, and also facilitate anchoring of the fence to the ground.
